‘Harry Kane good enough for Real Madrid’ – Michael Owen

Former Real Madrid striker Michael Owen has claimed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane ‘is one of ten players’ who would match Madrid’s criteria for signing.

Owen netted 16 goals in his sole season in the Spanish capital and believes his compatriot – who has 164 goals across 249 appearances for Spurs – would make the grade for Madrid.

“He is a really good player,” Owen told Marca, when asked directly about Kane potentially joining Los Blancos.

“In the Premier League right now we have amazing players like Hazard. In the Spanish league it is also difficult to play at Real Madrid and win even more.

“Maybe they are looking for players playing in the Premier League. But in that case, they have to be very special in order to improve the team.

“I think there are only ten players in the world who can play for or live up to Real Madrid's standards.

“They (Kane, Hazard) are great players, but Real Madrid already have great players. Obviously, with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and (Zinedine) Zidane, there was a big gap that is very difficult to fill.

“Hopefully with the return of Zidane there will be more stability in every way. And then, I am sure that there will be reinforcements and that Florentino, as always, will look for the best signings.

“My time in Madrid? I enjoyed it, I loved the experience. I was very lucky that I played alongside Figo, Raul, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Salgado, Beckham… and I felt comfortable with them.”
