Barcelona defender Gerard Pique: I have the instinct for attack

Gerard Pique joked he would like to be played in attack more often for Barcelona after netting in the Champions League against Lyon.

The 32-year-old has a career best seven goals this season for the Catalan giants, and now has a total of 46 goals to his name for the club.

“I have always liked playing in attack,” Pique told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“Sometimes I will see Luis Suarez looking fatigued so I will ask the Coach to put me up front, and I think I have the instinct to play in that position more often.

“Maybe I can convince the Coach to play me there more often…

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick? Big stars have a big influence for their teams and it is the same with us when you have Lionel Messi having so much importance.

“But individual players cannot win titles on their own and what he does is no normal, you can see that again tonight with two goals and two assists.

“Can we win the treble? It’s too early to talk about that but we are alive in all the competitions, we are in a similar position to a year ago so hopefully we can learn from that.”
