Santiago Solari ‘says goodbye’ to Real Madrid players

Real Madrid Coach Santiago Solari has ‘said his goodbyes’ to his players amid widespread reports that he has been dismissed from his position.

Various Spanish media reports have stated Zinedine Zidane will return to the post less than 10 months after his exit from the club.

ESPN say Solari has told his players that he has left while Marca report that his relationship within sections of the dressing room were now ‘irreparable’.

The club have endured a terrible start to the month – the humiliating 4-1 defeat at home to Ajax completing a six-day period whereby they also lost two El Clasicos at their home ground.

Los Blancos exited the Copa del Rey the previous Wednesday and are now 12 points off the pace in La Liga, with the season destined to end with no trophies for the club.

Various reports had stated that Solari, who replaced Julen Lopetegui in October, was then an ‘interim manager’ for the 4-1 weekend victory at Real Valladolid.

Jose Mourinho, who managed Madrid between 2010 and 2013, had been favourite to replace the Argentine in the role but it now appears to be Zidane who will return to the hosteat.
