Los Blancos have endured a poor run of form in recent weeks, exiting the Copa del Rey and Champions League to Barcelona and Ajax respectively, but the former Argentina international praised their reaction.
"It has been a difficult week for everyone, and in the first 25 minutes we found it tough.
"But the players shown they can come through that, and that shows their spirit and professionalism.
"To come to a difficult stadium, against a side fighting against relegation and with our injury situation, I am filled with pride and satisfaction.
He declined to comment on the ongoing speculation surrounding his future at the club, preferring instead to focus on the remaining games of the season for the club.
