Lucas Vazquez ‘cannot explain’ what has happened to Real Madrid in the past week after pivotal defeats in all three competitions.
Los Blancos were eliminated from both the Copa del Rey and Champions League alongside a league defeat to Barcelona which left them 12 points off the pace in the title race.
“These have been three very bad games for us, this is not Real Madrid,” Vazquez told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“We were not as good as Ajax, they deserved to eliminate us, and we have to accept that after winning the competition three times in a row.
“What we have achieved has been incredible but this season has not gone as expected, but it is an exaggeration to say this is the end of a cycle for us.
“Our home form is costing us, that is true, but we had clear chances and could not score so we must congratulate Ajax.
“It is difficult to explain what is happening with our form but we must focus on finishing the season in the strong possible manner.”
