La Liga Round Up Week 26: Barcelona end Real Madrid title dreams with El Clasico win

Barcelona ended Real Madrid's fading La Liga title hopes with a 1-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu, to move 12 points ahead of Santiago Solari's side.

Ivan Rakitic's first half goal sealed a second El Clasico win inside three days for La Blaugrana, after they won 3-0 in the Copa del Rey semi final second leg in midweek. 

Atletico Madrid remain seven points behind Ernesto Valverde's side, after Alvaro Morata's double secured a 2-0 win at Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Getafe stay in fourth place, after a 2-1 win at Real Betis, who slip down to 8th place on goal difference. 

Valencia leapfrog the Andalusian side after winning 2-0 at home to an improving Athletic Bilbao.

Sevilla's hopes of securing Champions League football for next season suffered a blow after they lost 2-1 away at rock bottom Huesca, thanks to a 98th minute winner from the hosts. 

That result sees Sevilla slide to 6th in the table, but Huesca are now three points away from safety after their thired win in their lasst five games breathed life into their quest to avoid relegation.

Alaves move up to 5th after a 2-1 win at Villarreal and Eibar won 1-0 at home to Celta Vigo, who sacked manager Miguel Cardoso hours after the defeat.

Espanyol moved further away from relegation trouble with a 3-1 win away at home to Real Valladolid, and Girona followed suit with a 2-0 win at Rayo Vallecano. 

Leganes welcome Levante to the Estadio Butarque on Monday for a mid-table clash on Monday night.
