Luis Suarez: ‘Barcelona won but did not play well’

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez admitted his side did not play to the level they had hoped in their 3-0 Copa del Rey victory at Real Madrid.

The Uruguayan bagged a brace alongside a Raphael Varane own goal as the Blaugrana ran out three-goal victors in a game which for long spells looked like it could go the other way.

“Reaching the Copa final was an objective for us since the start of the season,” Suarez explained on TVE, as cited by Marca.

“We knew they would leave spaces at the back if we scored a goal and it turned out to be true, we enjoyed more space and could create more opportunities.

“We did not play to the level we wanted, but this is normal in football, you need to deal with the bad things as well as the good to find a way of winning.

“There is another big match on Saturday that we now must prepare for.”
