Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has criticised Spanish media for focusing more on VAR technology rather than the ‘trial of political prisoners’.
The former Spain international was referencing the trials of those involved in the 2017 Catalan independence referendum, which is currently ongoing.
“Spanish TV should focus more on the trial of political prisoners rather than VAR,” Pique complained, in quotes cited by Marca.
“That is something that is very unjust and is something that people need to know what is going on, maybe Spain would be doing better if we concentrated on the important issues.
“Another El Clasico fixture? It will be very difficult as the semi-final was, and if we lose that game then suddenly the title race looks very close again.
“We must be fully motivated and focused because in recent years we have had impressive victories here (at the Bernabeu) so they will know this and have a plan.
“We are getting very good results, we are enjoying a strong dynamic and right now we are all happy, including me.
“We are in another final and are looking to win it.”
