Real Madrid Coach Santiago Solari heaped praise on Vinicius Junior’s performance in Wednesday night’s El Clasico against Barcelona.
The two historic rivals played out a 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou in their Copa del Rey semi-final first leg, with the Brazilian appearing electric in Madrid’s attack.
“I’m not surprised by his level of performance,” Solari told reporters when asked about Vinicius, as cited by Marca.
“I have followed him very closely since he arrived at the club and this level of display is exactly what he has been producing week in, week out.
“He is still very young and raw and we must keep helping him to develop his game but right now, he and his teammates are helping him to shine.
“Marcelo’s performance? He is our second captain and he represents Real Madrid both on and off the pitch, we want to see his best version.
“Our form? Lets not get carried away, we look at games as they come and we are only concerned about what comes next for us.
“We have to assess Marcos Llorente’s injury and our return to La Liga.”
