Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena is ‘delighted’ to be given his first-team opportunities by Coach Ernesto Valverde.
The 21-year-old La Masia youth graduate made his second league start of the campaign on Saturday in a 2-2 draw against Valencia, but was replaced by Arthur Melo in the 66th minute.
“I’m really happy with the chances I am being given by the Coach, I am delighted” Alena told reporters after the match, as cited by Marca.
“There is no disappointment with being substituted, this is part of the Coach’s plan and he makes the decisions, I’m very happy to be on the pitch.
“The most important thing is the result and when you don’t win it is not good but I am happy with my performance and that of the team.
“It is strange to be disappointed not to win after coming from two goals down but we believe we had enough chances for a victory and that is our feeling.”
