Jordi Alba ‘agrees new Barcelona contract’

Barcelona have agreed a contract extension with defender Jordi Alba following long-running negotiations, according to a report from Cadena Ser.

Alba’s contract at the Camp Nou has entered its final 18 months, despite the Spaniard being Barca’s first-choice left-back and in fine form.

However, the report says that a new deal will see him remain at the Blaugrana until the summer of 2024 – which will likely see him end his career at the club.

The left-back’s current deal at the Camp Nou expires in June 2020 and possesses a €150m release clause but he wants an improved contract.

Juventus and Manchester United are said to be among the clubs interested in a possible move for the Spain international.

Alba has played more than 250 matches for Barca after his 2012 move from Valencia with his last renewal penned in 2015.
