Atletico Madrid have completed the 18-month loan signing of striker Alvaro Morata from Chelsea, it has been confirmed.
The 26-year-old joined Chelsea from Real Madrid in July 2017 for a then club-record fee of €65m on a five-year contract.
However, the Spain international struggled for form for the majority of his time in the English capital and has now returned to Spanish football.
With Gonzalo Higuain arriving at Stamford Bridge last week, Morata's departure became a certainty and the deal was formalised on Monday.
Los Rojiblancos are at the limit of their capped wage at €293m per annum whilst the futures of forwards Nikola Kalinic is said to be vulnerable, with Gelson Martins joining Monaco on loan.
Morata played for Atleti during his youth career and while Sevilla and Barcelona were been linked to his signature earlier this month, he has now returned to the Spanish capital.
