Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon set for new contract

Real Madrid are looking at offering defender Sergio Reguilon an improved contract, after impressive displays from the left back in 2019.

The 22 year-old youth team graduate has been given the nod over Brazilian international Marcelo in recent weeks, and manager Saniago Solari is a big fan him.

According to reports in Diario AS, Solari is concerned by Marcelo's defensive capabilities, an issue that has been solved by the more pragmatic Reguilon's inclusion into the back line.

Whether or not he will remain in front of the experienced Marcelo – who himself has been linked with a move to Juventus – for the rest of the season remains unclear, but Real are keen to secure his future at the Saniago Bernabeu.

The Spanish youth international's current deal at the club expires in June 2020, and the board are looking to offer him an extension and a significant wage increase.
