Coach Diego Simeone will put pen to paper on a new Atletico Madrid contract which will see him stay at the club until the summer of 2022, say Marca.
The report claims negotiations are ongoing but both sides are keen for the deal to happen, while earlier this week Diario AS said a contract would be agreed until 2021.
The Argentine’s current deal at Los Rojiblancos is due to expire in 2020 – at the end of next season – but AS report an agreement has been found between the parties for an extension.
Simeone’s sister and agent Natalia has reportedly negotiated a fresh deal which will increase the Coach’s salary, which is said to already be the third highest of manager’s within world football, currently cited at €22m.
Atleti are currently five points behind Barcelona in the Spanish league standings but they are unbeaten in their last 17 league matches.
Simeone replaced Gregorio Manzano in the position midway through the 2011-12 campaign.
