Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele ‘out for two weeks’ with ankle injury

Barcelona expect Ousmane Dembele to be out of action for between 10 days and two weeks after an injury sustained against Leganes, say Catalunya Radio.

The Frenchman is reported to have sustained a sprained left ankle after appearing to be on agony on the turf – meaning the injury is not as serious as first feared.

“He was calm and we hope it is not a lot,” Coach Ernesto Valverde is cited as saying immediately after the game.

“He is a destabilizing player capable of opening up any defence, we lose a lot without him.”

A Barcelona club statement has read: “Our player Ousmane Dembele has a sprained left ankle, and on Monday he will have more tests to know the exact extent of the injury.”

However, reports in Catalan media have allayed fears that the forward – who has scored 13 goals to date this campaign – will be absent for a prolonged period.
