Brazilian club Santos have confirmed they have requested to Real Madrid that Rodrygo Goes’ move to Spain is delayed until next January.
The 18-year-old has starred with Santos but is due to join Madrid this year after the two club’s struck a €45m deal last summer.
“We have already asked Real Madrid, we are waiting to see what their thoughts are,” Santos president Jose Carlos Peres told Lance newspaper, as cited by ESPN, when quizzed about delaying the deal.
Rodrygo has made 60 first-team appearances for Santos despite his youth and is currently on international duty with the Brazil Under-20s side.
