Real Madrid boss Santiago Solari: “VAR must be clearer”

Santiago Solari believes the rules surrounding VAR should be clearer following Real Madrid’s defeat to Real Sociedad this weekend.

The technology has been in place across La Liga for the first time this season and Madrid were denied several strong penalty calls in their 2-0 loss to La Real.

“We are not complaining about VAR but we have a right to defend ourselves,” Solari told reporters, as cited by Diario AS.

“It is not the technology that is the problem but the rules surrounding it and we believe that needs to be clearer.

“Sometimes as a spectator I do not understand how it works so there is work to do on that front, but that will come in time.

“Brahim Diaz will be available for selection should we get all the paperwork done in time, we want to have him available as soon as possible.

“The Copa del Rey is a very important competition to us and we approach it in the same manner that we do for other competitions, at Madrid we want to win every game.”
