Barcelona have reached a pre-contract agreement to sign the in-demand Toulouse defender Jean-Clair Todibo, report ESPN FC.
Last week, El Mundo Deportivo claim Barca were in ‘pole position’ to sign the player who has not featured for the Ligue 1 club since November, when negotiations over a new deal broke down.
The report claims negotiations will now centre around if Barca can sign him for a cut-price fee in January and then loan him out, rather than leave him at a club where is not featuring.
Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed Juventus, who also hold a strong interest in the player, ‘believe they are losing the battle’ for the player.
Various reports in the Spanish press have reported Barca’s interest in the 19-year-old while Marca have also stated that Real Madrid are in the mix for his signature.
El Mundo Deportivo said Barca ‘are in total control’ of the player’s situation and are confident they can land Todibo – who is out of contract in June – this year, and have ‘intensified their approach’.
Having started his career as a midfielder, Todibo has made 10 starts for his club in Ligue 1 this season in the heart of defence and will be a free agent in June.
Marca quote the player’s agent Bruno Satin as saying: “He wants to prove himself at the highest level, I am sure he will be at a big club soon.”
