Barcelona defender Gerard Pique completes FC Andorra purchase

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has completed the purchase of FC Andorra, who play in the Spanish regional leagues, it has been confirmed.

The defender released a statement confirming a report from Diari d'Andorra that, through his company Kosmos, he will take advantage of a new sporting law to take a controlling role in the club.

The move sees Kosmos take full responsibility for the club’s debt after FC Andorra’s directors sanctioned the move at a general meeting.

Last month, the former Spain international denied reports that he was going to purchase La Liga 123 club Reus, based in Catalonia, following media speculation.

Last November, Pique told L'Équip Magazine: “We are working on two projects, one is to buy a team, I'm sorry, I cannot say more.

“The other is to create a new football competition or use an existing competition, no, seriously, I cannot say more. very beautiful projects.”

FC Andorra currently compete in the Primera Catalana – the fifth level of Spanish football – but played in the third tier between 1980 and 1998, with a Copa del Rey fourth round appearance in 1991.

Pique’s company Kosmos also have made business moves in tennis, esports, video games, eyeglasses, isotonic drinks and organic hamburgers.
