New Barcelona defender Jeison Murillo has spoken of his ‘relief’ at playing in the same team as Lionel Messi and not against him.
The Colombian defender has joined the Catalan giants on a loan deal until the end of the season from Valencia.
“The best way of describing playing with Messi is relief, because you want to be on the same side of him and not facing him, because he is the best in the world,” Murillo told reporters, as cited by Diario AS.
“Yerry Mina gave me a lot of advice for coming here, we are very close friends but ultimately everyone has their own approach and way of doing things.
“It is an amazing opportunity for me to play for the biggest club in the world, for God to have given me this opportunity and it has made me and my family very happy.
“It makes me very proud to be able to wear this shirt, to become part of this great club and help to play attractive football.
“A dream has become a reality.”
