Barcelona ‘deny agreement for PSG’s Adrien Rabiot’

Barcelona have denied they have an agreement in place to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, say Diario Sport.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the French champions in June and has been linked with several top European clubs, including the Blaugrana.

Reports that the central midfielder had already agreed personal terms with Barca was first mentioned by French outlet Le Parisien and later verified by Barcelona-based El Mundo Deportivo.

However Diario Sport refute such reports and say that sources within the Catalan giants have outright denied any deal has been put in place.

The Frenchman’s contractual situation has led to reports he could leave the French capital in a cut-price deal this January, or for free next summer.

Earlier this week, PSG chief Antero Henrique commented that the midfielder would not play for the club again unless he signed a new contract: “The player informed me that he will not be signing a new contract and that he wants to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season [also the end of his contract].

“For the player, the consequences are clear – he is indefinitely benched.”

The Catalan giants were strongly linked to Rabiot this summer but instead signed Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal to replace the outgoing Andres Iniesta and Paulinho.
