Jose Mourinho has parted company with Manchester United following Sunday’s defeat at Liverpool, it has been confirmed.
The English giants confirmed the news via their media streams and announced that a caretaker boss would be appointed until the end of the campaign as the club searched for a long-term appointment.
“Manchester United has announced that Jose Mourinho has left the Club,” read a United club statement on Tuesday.
“We would like to thank him for his work during his time at Manchester United and wish him success in the future.”
Mourinho won the 2017 League Cup and Europa League titles at Old Trafford before leading them to a second-placed finish last season.
However, the situation deteriorated this campaign with the club lying 19 points from the top of the league after 17 rounds of fixtures.
