Dani Ceballos: ‘Injuries behind Real Madrid inconsistency’

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos believes the club are the ‘favourite’ for the Champions League and they have had ‘many injuries’ this campaign.

The 22-year-old has featured 19 times for Los Blancos this season, including seven starts in La Liga, but believes results and performances will improve soon.

“We have had many injuries and that has made it very difficult to maintain a regularity in performance level,” Ceballos told ABC.

“But Real Madrid are a club with a competitive DNA that I do not think is evident in any other team.

“There are people saying that we are not a candidate to win the Champions League but that is a lie, Real Madrid are always the favourite.

“My run of games? It is not a question of whether I start matches or not, but I want to give my everything to this club and make the position my own, but yes I am happy at Real Madrid.

“Santiago Solari? There are not coaches who are better or worse, there are coaches who are different, but he has trusted in me and I like working under him.

“Real Betis? Everyone knows I have an emotional connection with the club but I’m very happy at Real Madrid.”
