Real Madrid boss Santiago Solari: “We must respect the fans”

Real Madrid boss Santiago Solari insists the club must ‘respect the fans’ and played down an incident between Isco and the team’s support.

There were suggestions that the playmaker made a gesture towards fans who were whistling during Wednesday night’s 3-0 defeat against CSKA Moscow, but the Argentine has played down the incident.

“We must respect the fans of the club, they are always here to support us and we need them,” Solari told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“Over 115 years of this club’s history the fans have driven us to victories and this is a club who has built successes on being in unity, so we must remain this way.

“The media may always try to analyse things more and make stories when they do not always exists, and I thought Isco was claiming for a decision (rather than gesturing towards fans).

“Isco is professional and he knows that every situation at this club is blown up, but we all focus on our own roles.

“This is a club who have won four of the last five Champions League and we are still in every competition, there are always good and bad moments but Madrid have always had more ups.”
