Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet has called on recognition for Ousmane Dembele’s on-pitch performances for the club.
Much has been made of the 21-year-old’s alleged disciplinary discretions off the pitch but is also making a positive contribution in matches for Ernesto Valverde’s side.
“What is important to me is what Ousmane does on the pitch in a sporting sense,” Lenglet told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“At the moment he is performing really well, he is exceling, and we are all delighted for him, I do not want to discuss non-sporting matters.
“I understand that for the media they might look to analyse different things, but nothing is as important as to how you do on the pitch.
“Punishment? I do not know what the right thing to do is for any alleged indiscretions, that is not a question for a player.
“Against Tottenham? It is an important game for us, every Champions League game is special and you have to enjoy these matches.
“What is very important is to win things, individual games and to compete against top sides.”
