La Liga advertise Girona v Barcelona in Miami

La Liga has continued with its advertising drive to bring January’s clash between Girona and Barcelona to Miami.

The league took out extensive ads in the influential Miami Herald, wrapping the front page of the newspaper with the slogan ‘Bring us the game’.

The Spanish league want to bring the game between the two Catalan sides to Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, home of NFL team the Miami Dolphins, despite growing opposition.

FIFA, the Spanish FA and Spanish players union AFE have all stated their formal opposition to the plans, with the latter floating the possibility of a strike should the game be proceeded with.

La Liga have struck a 15-year agreement with US entertainment company Relevent Sports while the petition to stage the game in Miami has reached 30,000 signatures online.

Alongside the organisations that have rejected the move, La Liga also need to garner the support of continental governing bodies UEFA and CONCACAF.
