Diego Simeone is in ‘advanced talks’ to extend his contract at Atletico Madrid beyond his current deal of June 2020, say reports in Spain.
Radio Marca report the Argentine is close to agreeing terms with Los Rojiblancos which would make him the highest paid individual at the club.
In September 2017 he agreed a two-year extension to his deal which had been due to the expire at the end of that season, having previously taken the unusual step of reducing his deal.
Simeone guided Atleti to last year’s Europa League title and the subsequent European Super Cup this season, while his side currently lie one point from the summit of La Liga.
