Santiago Solari’s uncle Jorge believes ‘you need to have won trophies and earned a lot of money’ to manage the Real Madrid dressing room.
Jorge, who played for Newell’s, Vélez, River Plate, Estuadiantes and Torreón in Argentina (while Santiago’s father Eduardo also played at the top level) spoke about his newphew’s permanent appointment in Madrid.
“We are a family with a lot of football tradition and this is the greatest honour yet,” Jorge told Radio Mitre in Argentina, as cited by Diario AS.
“It’s a really difficult and demanding job of course, but to manage that dressing room you need to have won trophies, to have earned a lot of money.
“The players who come to Madrid are in this bracket, we are talking about the very best players in the world, so you need to have clout of your own to manage all that.”
