Barcelona defender Gerard Pique insists he and his teammates will help Ousmane Dembele to adapt to the ‘24/7’ nature of football.
The French forward was excluded from Barca’s matchday squad on Sunday, which ended in a 3-4 defeat to Real Betis, reportedly due to a disciplinary issue.
“Me and his teammates will try to help him out, that is what we are here for,” Pique told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“There are many reasons why players are or are not selected, and I am sure that the decision to leave Ousmane from the matchday squad was strategic and ultimately, will help him.
“He is very young and when you are that age it is easy to make mistakes, and every player has been at that stage of their career before.
“Football is a 24/7 games, you live it and you breath it, so it is important to understand this in order to realise your potential and hopefully this decision helps him.”
