Toni Kroos has described the departure of Coach Julen Lopetegui as Real Madrid’s ‘biggest defeat’ of the season.
The German international midfielder took to social media to thank his former boss, who was sacked from his position on Monday evening, to be replaced by Santiago Solari.
“The biggest defeat for players is when the Coach has to go,” Kroos wrote on his Twitter account.
“Especially in this case because he is a great coach and great person. Thanks Julen!”
Los Blancos have lost six of their 14 matches this season including four of their last six, with Sunday’s 5-1 El Clasico defeat to Barcelona the final straw for Lopetegui.
