Real Madrid star Gareth Bale faces Spanish tax issue

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is the latest player to face allegations of unpaid tax in Spain with the nation’s Inland Revenue demanding €337k.

The Welshman has reportedly not declared his full image rights dating back to his arrival in Madrid back in 2013, with €200k of unpaid tax alongside €100k in fines and €37k in interest.

A number of stars across Spanish football have been caught up in similar legal issues including Bale’s former Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi of Barcelona.

The details of Bale’s fine is outlined in Thursday’s El Mundo with the expectation that the outstanding amount will be paid in full in the coming weeks.
