Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos believes his side must improve defensively after scrapping a home win over Viktoria Plzen.
Whilst spurning a number of chances to extend their lead in a 2-1 victory, the Czech side would have been disappointed to score just once in their narrow loss.
“It was a well-deserved win, just what we wanted,” Kroos told reporters after the game.
“Of course, we had a lot of good moments and we created a lot of chances, we should have scored a lot more goals: six, seven or eight…
“However, the flip side is that we could have conceded two or three goals and this is clearly something that we have to work on and improve.
“This is not what we wanted and we have to defend a little bit better but I think offensively we were good, creating a lot of chances.
“We played a good game but we must close out games stronger than we did here.”
