Vinicius Junior hoping Real Madrid reverse Brazil decision

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior is hopeful the club reverse their decision and allow him to play in the upcoming South American Under-20 tournament.

The tournament runs from 20 January through to 13 February and the 18-year-old could be involved with Brazil alongside future Madrid teammate Rodrygo Goes.

However, the Brazil Under-20 Coach Carlos Amadeu has stated Madrid have ‘ruled out’ allowing any of their players to participate, as it is not on FIFA’s international calendar.

“We all know it's very difficult because it is not a FIFA date, and the club is not obliged to release us,” Vinicius is reported as saying by ESPN FC.

“But we are trying not only for myself but for all the players to play the South American [tournament] and play for the national team.”
