Arda Turan, on loan at İstanbul Başakşehir from Barcelona, has been charged with multiple criminal counts in Turkey and fined by his club.
The 31-year-old was recently involved in an altercation which left pop star Berkay Sahin with a broken nose at an Istanbul nightclub, with the player later allegedly brandishing a gun.
Turkish newspaper Hürriyet, as cited by Cadena Cope, outlines how Arda has been charged with ‘sexual harassment’, ‘intentional injuries’, ‘shooting with a firearm in a way that may lead to fear or panic’ and ‘carrying unlicensed weapons’.
The trial is set to take place in January, with the midfielder potentially facing a jail term of up to 12.5 years.
His club side İstanbul Başakşehir have also fined the player 2.5 million lire (about €370,000) for showing ‘attitudes incompatible with the club's values’.
