Real Madrid ‘monitoring’ Manchester City star Raheem Sterling

Real Madrid have renewed interest in Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling and may attempt a move next year, say ESPN FC.

The 23-year-old’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in June 2020 and contract renewal talks were said to have broken down earlier this summer.

The England international was influential for his nation at the World Cup in Russia following a season in which he netted 23 goals in 46 appearances for City, while he has found the net four times this campaign.

The report recounts a Sterling interview in December 2017 in which he stated he would ‘definitely’ be interested in a move away from the English Premier League.

The England international has made 150 appearances for the Manchester club, winning the Premier League title last season.
