Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has travelled to his native Argentina due to an illness to his father, Cadena Cope confirm.
The Coach’s dad is set to undergo heart surgery this week and the two-week international break ensures the trip should not disrupt Atleti’s plans.
Simeone is spending time with his family and offering support, while he is expected to return to the Spanish capital next week.
Atletico, who have won five of their most recent six matches, next face a trip to Villarreal on Saturday 20 October.
