Vinicius Junior ‘will never forget’ Real Madrid debut

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior ‘will never forget’ his debut for the club after coming from the bench in Saturday’s draw against Atletico Madrid.

The 18-year-old was introduced with three minutes of normal time remaining in the goalless draw, taking the place of Karim Benzema – his first appearance since his €45m switch from Flamengo.

“I am so happy and proud to have made my first appearance for the club,” Vinicius told Spanish TV, as cited by Diario AS.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped me improve in the training sessions here, from the players to the Coach Lopetegui.

“I have always dreamt of this moment, pulling on the shirt of the best team in the world and I am so grateful to everyone who made it happen.

“I do not have the words to describe this moment and it pulling on the Real Madrid shirt for the first time is something I will never forget.

“We dominated the game and should have won but now our attention returns to the Champions League.”
