Sergio Ramos frustrated as Real Madrid ‘don’t take advantage of Barcelona slip’

Sergio Ramos has lamented Real Madrid’s inability to take advantage of Barcelona’s dropped points for a second successive matchday.

Los Blancos were held to a scoreless draw by Atletico Madrid on Saturday night after Barca were held by Athletic Club Bilbao earlier in the day.

“We knew the importance of today's three points, to be able to take advantage of the fact that Barcelona had stumbled earlier in the day,” Ramos told Movistar, as cited by Marca.

“This is an opportunity that we have let go, at the beginning they pushed more but in the second half the fatigue set in.

“We have lacked that composure in the final third and yes, we would have liked to add the three points to take advantage of Barca’s stumble but this is not a bad result.

“You have to be at your best with respect to the opponent in games like these because minimum details decide these game, you have to have a bit of care and we have had control of the game.

“Ceballos? He came on with a lot of energy, created dangerous situations and despite not playing as much, he can contribute a lot.

“My embrace with Griezmann? We have to have the upmost respect for our fellow professionals, whether or not it is Griezmann or someone else.”
