Diego Simeone is confident Jose Maria Gimenez will be fit for Atletico Madrid for the Madrid derby this weekend despite sustaining a knock.
The 23-year-old Uruguayan limped off with a muscular injury in the 37th minute, being replaced by Lucas Hernandez, but Simeone remains optimistic he will return.
“We will evaluate him tomorrow,” Simeone said on Tuesday night.
“But knowing him as I do, I have positive feelings that he will be okay to play on Saturday.
“It was a good result for us tonight, we were trying to manage our energy levels in the best possible way ahead of a very important match.
“Our performances are better and the lines are getting closer in our pressing and that is a good thing, we have many positives to take.
“Leo Franco? I wish him all the best, it was very nice for people to remember his time at the club, he will have to have strength and confidence to learn from these games.”
