Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos wants to see teammate Luka Modric follow up his FIFA The Best award by winning the Ballon d’Or.
The Croatia international won the FIFA award on Monday night with 29% of the vote and Ramos believes the midfielder has earned the right to make it a double for 2018.
“Luka would deserve the Ballon d’Or too,” Ramos is cited as saying by Marca.
“When you analyse the level of performance this year then it would need to be him, Ronaldo or Messi who would win the award.
“Messi won those awards whenever Andres Iniesta or Xavi would have also been just winners, so I would give it to Modric.
“Why did Ronaldo and Messi not show up? It is disappointing as you always want to see the best players at these awards.”
