Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes the English Premier League appears to be better than in reality because of its marketing team.
The Catalan coach guided his side to last year’s league title, breaking an assortment of records, and believes the way in which the league is ‘sold’ and ‘broadcast’ makes it appear superior.
“The Premier League seems better than it really is due to the manner in which it is sold and the way they broadcast the product,” Guardiola told an interview on Spanish TV station Movistar+.
“The British press? Having spent so much time in Barcelona, everything here seems to be a lot more tolerable, there is less badness and cruelty here, the same as in Germany.
“The best club side I have ever seen? The Quinta del Buitre of Real Madrid (in the late 1980s), they were incredible.”
