Uruguayan Under-20 international defender Jose Luis Rodriguez has admitted talks over a move to Real Madrid are ongoing.
The 21-year-old has made 51 first-team appearances for Danubio and has been linked to a variety of top European clubs.
His compatriots Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez have long-established themselves as fixtures in Atletico Madrid’s starting eleven.
“Before the end of August the opportunity first arrived,” Rodriguez told Uruguayan media outlet Sport 890, in quotes carried by the Spanish media.
“Now my agent is discussing terms with them, hopefully I can travel soon and finalise the deal.”
Gimenez has earned the nickname ‘El Puma’ due to his fast acceleration.
