Milan’s ‘no faith’ in Andre Silva

On loan Sevilla forward Andre Silva struggled at parent club Milan because “they didn’t put enough faith” in him, claims Nuno Gomes.

The former FC Porto striker netted a hat-trick on his debut for the Andalusian club at Rayo Vallecano after just two Serie A goals in his sole season in Italy.

“Andre Silva also arrived during a difficult time for the club. When you are a young player from overseas who doesn’t know the environment very well, and are seen as some saviour for the fans, usually things don’t go very well,” ex-Fiorentina forward Nuno Gomes told Tuttosport, in quotes cited by our sister site Football Italia.

“He is not a typical Pippo Inzaghi style Number 9, but rather a striker who moves around a lot, tries to pass it around and often provides assists for others.

“He’s not the kind of player who just finishes in the box and that’s it.”
