City rival Barca for Adrien Rabiot

Manchester City have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, say various reports.

City boss Pep Guardiola is said by Manchester Evening News and RMC Sport, as cited by Marca, to have met with the Frenchman last week.

The 23-year-old, who was excluded from France’s World Cup squad this summer, sees his contract in Paris expire next summer which has led to transfer speculation over an exit next year.

Rabiot would be a free transfer next summer but the French champions may sanction a January exit in order to recoup a transfer fee.

“I'm not sure he's staying, I want him to stay, but it's up to him, he has great potential and he can improve even more,” Marca cite PSG Coach Thomas Tuchel as saying.

The Catalan giants were strongly linked to Rabiot this summer but instead signed Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal to replace the outgoing Andres Iniesta and Paulinho.
