Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric insists he still has a ‘good relationship’ with Cristiano Ronaldo following his exit to Juventus.
Modric won the UEFA Player of the Year award and alongside Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah, has been shortlisted on FIFA’s ‘The Best’ three-man shortlist award.
Reports subsequently followed that the relationship between the two had been damaged due to the competition for these gongs, but the Croat has rejected this.
“I have a good relationship with Ronaldo,” Modric is cited by ESPN FC as telling Croatian outlet RTP3.
“It's still the same. For me, the individual awards are important, but the collective ones are more important than individual ones. I'm not obsessed with these. We've already spoken.
“He sent me a message to congratulate me. He said he was happy for me and that I deserved it. He also said he would like to see me soon. That's it. We have a good relationship.”
