Barcelona striker Luis Suarez admits that the introduction of VAR ensures players ‘lose that instinct to celebrate’ goals.
The technology has been introduced in Spanish football this season but the Uruguayan, whilst understanding the reasons behind its rise, suggested it was not without flaws.
“When you are a player and you know VAR is in play, you lose that instinct to celebrate,” Suarez told reporters, as cited by Diario AS.
“That doubt over whether or not the goal will stand means you lose that adrenaline which previously came naturally.
“I understand why it is being used and it increases fairness and you are no longer allowed to make any mistakes as everything is now being watched in extra scrutiny.”
