Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis has confirmed he ‘did not push’ for an exit from the club after being informed he would not be sold.
The full-back was strongly linked with an exit from Los Rojiblancos this summer amid interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, but no move materialised.
“I’m happy here at Atletico, I did not push for a move,” Luis told BeIn Sports.
“Three weeks ago I held a meeting with the club to tell them where I stood but the club told me that they did not want me to leave and would not negotiate a transfer.
“From then on in I did not push for an exit.”
Luis has a €30m release clause at Atleti but his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano expires next summer.
