Alex Alegria set for Rayo switch

Rayo Vallecano are set to continue their late summer recruitment drive with a loan move for Real Betis striker Alex Alegria, say reports in Spain.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Levante but suffered a ligament injury in December which ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Estadio Deportivo now say Alegria is set to move to Vallecas on a loan move after talks with recently relegated Deportivo La Coruna hit a snag.

The Madrid-based club have already secured Real Madrid’s Raul de Tomas on a loan deal for the campaign but their only other recognised striker is 36-year-old Javi Guerra.

Rayo’s late recruitment process has also brought Castilla defender Jose Leon Bernal while they have also been linked to Stoke City midfielder Giannelli Imbula.
