Rayo Vallecano are closing in on the signing of midfielder Alvaro Garcia from La Liga 123 side Cadiz, according to reports in the Spanish press.
The 25-year-old has featured 77 times for Los Gaditanos in the Spanish second tier across the past two seasons after playing a significant role in the club’s promotion in 2016.
The creative midfielder is known for his technical ability and calmness in possession, starting his career at semi-professional side San Fernando before a move to Granada in 2013 as a 20-year-old.
He went on to have a loan spell at Racing Santander and Cadiz before joining the Andalusian club on a permanent basis last year.
Onda Cero now say a move to newly-promoted Rayo is close, with an initial €5m payment for 75% of the player’s rights.
Garcia has a release clause of €8m which will increase to €15m should Cadiz win promotion the top flight, and had already rejected a €5m offer from the Chinese Super League, according to reports.
