Barca move for €50m Adrien Rabiot

Barcelona are hopeful of signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot before the end of August and will sanction a €50m move, say reports.

The 23-year-old, who was excluded from France’s World Cup squad this summer, sees his contract in Paris expire next summer which has led to transfer speculation over an exit this year.

El Mundo Deportivo say officials at the Blaugrana are confident a deal could get over the line before the transfer window closes on 31 August.

A report in France Football last month said Barca technical director Eric Abidal had met with the player’s mother to discuss a potential deal, while the El Mundo Deportivo printed an image of the Barca duo in the Paris airport.

A parallel report in Diario Sport had suggested the French champions would sanction an exit despite Rabiot captaining PSG in all three of their International Champions Cup matches during pre-season.

However, the Catalan giants have already signed Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal to replace Andres Iniesta and Paulinho this summer, although Andre Gomes has subsequently departed on loan while Rafinha Alcantara may join Real Betis on loan.
